An interactive web prototype exploring how students can find a campus study space that fits their current task, environmental preferences and practical needs. My contribution covered interviews, prototype testing, research synthesis and interaction decisions. AI assisted coding, visual production and layout.

THE CHALLENGE
What needed to become clear.
An available seat is not necessarily a suitable place to study. A non-random questionnaire collected 103 responses; 99 students with relevant experience answered the follow-up questions. Of these, 52 stayed, 34 changed seat or place, and 13 left without using a seat. Lighting, conversation, power access and movement around a space required more precise questions than a single quietness preference.
02
THE APPROACH
How the idea was tested.
The prototype asks about speaking needs directly, separates brightness from glare and occupancy from passing traffic, and filters seat and power requirements before ranking spaces. It explains when no space matches instead of silently relaxing requirements. Four designed wayfinding scenes and a two-dimensional overview explore how recommendations connect to arrival.
03
CURRENT OUTCOME
Where the project stands.
Eight unique participants took part across four evaluation stages, with some returning for later tests. Three new participants completed the revised flow without prompts; all eight reported that scene guidance was clearer than the two-dimensional overview. The small sample, repeated participation, self-selected viewing order and AR-biased comparison question limit this finding. Seat and power filters added after testing still need a dedicated retest, followed by on-site wayfinding evaluation.
