THE CHALLENGE
Understand how bone landmarks, muscle volumes and overall proportions connect, then carry that structure into a complete character that remains readable from several angles.
THE APPROACH
Study the skull in front and side views, build the body's major muscle groups, compare front, side and back silhouettes, and continue with character posing, mesh inspection and garment pieces.
CURRENT OUTCOME
Nineteen process images document seven stages, from skull and muscle construction through full-body anatomy, character posing, garment construction, costume accessories and detail refinement. These are course reference studies and work in progress.
STUDY ARCHIVE · JUL–AUG 2025
Reference-based coursework in 19 process images. Select an image to view it at full size.
Front and side studies of cranial proportions, eye sockets, cheekbones and the jaw.
Separate muscle volumes and compare how the torso and limbs connect in three views.
Compare the complete figure in front, side and back views, following the muscle groups and the overall silhouette.
Bring the anatomical studies into a full character, then inspect a standing pose, the neutral stance and the mesh.
Move from garment pieces and a dressed preview to the first pass of sleeves, armor panels, layered skirts and boots.
Develop the beard, belt and ornament, then compare the sleeves, armor panels and layered clothing across three views.
Refine the cloth folds, collar trim, waist details and armor surfaces while checking the character from front, side and back.
